Fifth seed Dayana Yastremska will take on Uzbekistan’s Nigina Abduraimova in the round of 32 of the WTA Andorra Open on Tuesday.
The Ukrainian youngster produced her best result of the season at the Lyon Open. She reached the finals and finished runner-up after losing to Zhang Shuai. Other than this result, Yastremska made it to the quarterfinals at the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Copa Colsanitas, and the Birmingham Classic.
Yastremska most recently played at the WTA 125 event in Rouen last month. However, her journey in the tournament was ended by Ana Konjuh in the round of 32. Yastremska will look to finish the season on a strong note. She is one of the contenders to go the distance in Andorra.
The 28-year-old won both her titles this season in Tunisia on the ITF circuit. The first win came in January while the second one came in four months later.
Abduraimova lost the finals of an ITF event in Loughborough in October and another one this month in Slovakia. She lost to Emily Appleton and Ana Konjuh in the two finals. The world No. 169 will have to take whatever chances that come her way as a player like Yastremska can change the game in quick time.
The head-to-head scoreline currently between Dayana Yastremska and Nigina Abduraimova stands at 0-0 as the two players have never faced each other as yet.
Prediction: Dayana Yastremska to win in straight sets.
