World No. 100 Kateryna Baindl will take on the Turkish veteran Pemra Ozgen in the round of 32 of the WTA Andorra Open.
The Ukrainian entered the main draw at the Poland Open after progressing from the qualifiers. She went on to reach the semifinals, where she lost to Ana Bogdan. Baindl reached two finals in ITF events in France and Spain. She also lost the final of the Copa LP Chile.
At the recently-concluded WTA Montevideo Open, the 28-year-old progressed to the semis with wins against Emma Navarro, Brenda Fruhvirtova, and Clara Burel. Baindl was eventually ousted by the Russian teenager, Diana Shnaider.
The 36-year-old has produced some fine results in Portugal this season. She reached two finals in ITF events in Portugal. Ozgen lost the first one in May but captured the title in July.
Ozgen has also been ousted in the semifinals on four occasions this season. The first time she lost in the semis this year was at an ITF event in Spain, while on three occasions, she faced semi-final defeats in Portugal.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-0 in favor of Kateryna Baindl. She defeated Pemra Ozgen in three sets in 2012 in Minsk.
