The red-hot Alycia Parks squares off against Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian in the round of 16 of the WTA Angers Arena Loire Open.
Alycia Parks
The American youngster showed impeccable form in the last couple of tournaments she played. After bowing out in the semis in the ITF event in Valencia, Parks went the distance in the WTA Andorra Open.
Parks continued her good form in Angers as she ousted top seed Zhang Shuai in the round of 32. The hard-hitting youngster bamboozled the Chinese veteran with her fearless attacking brand of tennis. Parks fired in 19 aces during the match while Shuai failed to score even one. On the first serve, Parks had a win percentage of 83 while on the second serve, she had a 100% record.
Jaqueline Cristian
The 24-year-old has not been in great form as of late. After winning an ITF event in France in September, Cristian managed just one win in eight matches before coming to Angers.
Cristian began her campaign against America’s Hina Inoue. The former finished the match in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Cristian might not be as sharp on the serves as Parks but she isn’t too far behind. She also had a win percentage of 83 on the first serve. Cristian also served six aces. She will have no room for error against the in-form Parks.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as Alycia Parks and Jaqueline Cristian are yet to cross paths.
Prediction: Alycia Parks to win in straight sets.
