The experienced German Sabine Lisicki squares off against Denmark’s Clara Tauson in the WTA Angers Arena Loire Open on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old returned from an anterior cruciate ligament tear after 18 months in May. She defeated fellow German Tamara Korpatsch in the first round to win her first main-draw match on the tour since 2018 at the 2022 Bad Homburg Open.
The former world No. 12 most recently played in the WTA 125 event in Andorra. She defeated Sara Errani and Alina Charaeva in the first two rounds but lost in the quarterfinals against eventual champion Alycia Parks in a close encounter.
The teenage sensation has shown plenty of promise this season. She made her debut at the main-draw of the Australian Open and defeated sixth seed Anett Kontaveit in the second round. This was Tauson’s first win against a top 10 player in her career. Tauson lost in the third round to eventual runner-up Danielle Collins.
Tauson also made her WTA 1000 main draw debut this year with the Qatar Open. She defeated Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic in the first round but lost to Paula Badosa in the second. A back injury forced her to pull out of big events like the Italian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon. Tauson won an ITF event in Italy a couple of days ago.
Clara Tauson and Sabine Lisicki have not met each other as yet in a match. Therefore, the head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0.
Prediction: Clara Tauson to win in three sets.
