8th seed Varvara Gracheva will face France’s Tessah Andrianjafitrimo in the round of 32 of the WTA Angers Arena Loire Open on Tuesday.

The Russian tennis pro has had a rather disappointing season. She has failed to add to the 7 ITF titles that she has won so far in her career. She made it to the third round of the French Open for the second consecutive year. However, her campaign in Flushing Meadows came to an end with a crushing defeat against Elise Mertens. She also made it to the quarterfinals at the Chennai Open.
Gracheva most recently played in the WTA 125 event in Midland, USA. She entered the tournament as the sixth seed but her campaign ended in the first round following a loss against Ann Li.
Tessah Andrianjafitrimo
The 24-year-old has played most of her tennis on the ITF circuit this season. She has achieved some fine results in the ITF tournament, especially in the first half of the season. Andrianjafitrimo failed to make it to the main draw of the Australian Open. However, she followed it up with a couple of runs to the semis in consecutive ITF events in Egypt. In March, she won her only title in 2022 at an ITF event in Ecuador. She also finished runner-up at the ITF event in France in April.
Andrianjafitrimo was recently seen in action at the ITF event in Egypt. She lost to India’s Vaidehi Chaudhari in straight sets in the round of 32.
