World No. 6 Caroline Garcia locks horns with world No. 8 Daria Kasatkina in the round-robin stage of the WTA Finals on Saturday.
Caroline Garcia
The Frenchwoman is currently 1-1 in the competition so far. Caroline Garcia needs to win this match to progress further in the tournament
The 29-year-old began her campaign at the Paris Masters with a comprehensive win against the youngest player in the competition, Coco Gauff. The one-sided match ended 6-4, 6-3 in favor of the veteran. In Garcia’s second match, she had an uphill task as she squared off against the world No. 1 Iga Swiatek. The Polish sensation once again showed her class and defeated Garcia in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
Daria Kasatkina
Like her upcoming opponent, Kasatkina also needs to win this match in order to stay in the competition. The 25-year-old has so far won one match and lost another.
Kasatkina opened her campaign against Iga Swiatek. The three-time Grand Slam champion made light work of her and picked up a victory in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Kasatkina had to bounce back quickly as she faced Coco Gauff in her second match. The young American fought hard in the first set but Kasatkina managed to edge it. In the second set, the experienced campaigner outplayed Gauff to win the match 7-6 (8-6), 6-3. The Russian No. 1 was also helped by the fact that her opponent committed as many as 43 unforced errors.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-1. Kasatkina won their previous encounter in three sets at the 2021 Silicon Valley Classic.
Prediction: Caroline Garcia to win in three sets.
