Clara Burel

The young Frenchwoman has had a rather underwhelming season so far. Her most notable result came at the US Open where she reached the third round for the first time at the event. She defeated 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in straight sets in the first round in Flushing Meadows.

Burel defeated Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in the first round in Montevideo in straight sets 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. In the round of 16, the 21-year-old managed to bounce back after losing the first set to defeat Ann Li 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. This is just Burel’s second quarter-final appearance this season. She lost in the quarterfinals in a WTA 125 event in Makarska in June.

Kateryna Baindl

She was one of the favorites coming into the tournament and it has been so far so good for the Ukrainian athlete. She has won her two matches so far in the competition in contrasting styles.

In the round of 16, Baindl managed to defeat the swashbuckling Brenda Fruhvirtova in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. The world No. 111 has won 4 quarterfinals this year while having lost a couple.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as Clara Burel and Kateryna Baindl have not faced each other as yet.

Prediction: Kateryna Baindl to win in three sets.
