15-year-old Brenda Fruhvirtova locks horns with Argentina’s Maria Carle in the round of 32 of the WTA Montevideo Open.
The talented teenager has had a phenomenal year ITF circuit. She has won 8 ITF titles so far this season and is yet to lose in a final. She began the season outside the top 1000 in the WTA rankings but finds herself in the top 150 at the moment. In the season, Fruhvirtova was on a winning streak of 27 matches.
The youngster did not have a great campaign in the WTA 125K event in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she lost in straight sets in the first round to Natalija Kostic. Fruhvirtova has won at least one title in each of the last three months and will look to capture her first title in November.
The 22-year-old has won just one title this season so far. It came at an ITF event in the USA in May. She defeated five Americans en route to winning the title. Carle has the experience of playing a handful of matches on the WTA Tour and she would have to use every ounce to keep the leash on the sensational Fruhvirtova.
Carle played in the WTA 125K event in Buenos Aires. She made it to the semifinals with three wins and all of them came in straight sets. Carle eventually lost to third seed Panna Udvardy.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have not crossed paths as yet.
Prediction: Brenda Fruhvirtova to win in three sets.
