WTA Stuttgart Open 2022 Final: World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will lock horns with Aryna Sabalenka for the Stuttgart Open title on Sunday, April 24th.
Iga Swiatek has been in sensational form this year. The Pole stretched her winning run to 22 matches as she overcame Liudmila Samsonova 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-5 to move into her fourth final of the season.
Swiatek also knocked out the likes of Eva Lys 6-1, 6-1 in dominant fashion and then got to work on British No.1 Emma Raducanu before defeating Ludmilla Samsonova to progress to the final. The World No.1 will now be looking to add a fourth title to her growing list of honours this season.
On the other hand, Aryna Sabalenka also had a rather comfortable start at the Stuttgart Open. She got past Bianca Andreescu in her first match of the week, beating the Canadian 6-1 3-6 6-2. She then backed that up by beating Estonian star Anett Kontaveit 6-4 3-6 6-1. Sabalenka then booked her place in the final by beating Paula Badosa, delivering what was surely her most impressive performance of the week so far.
Now, Sabalenka will be hoping to end Swiatek’s dominance this season as she prepares for one of her toughest battles yet.
