Here is everything we know about WWE 2K22. Players will return to the ring once again to battle for the belt.
Following the failure of WWE 2K20 in 2019, 2K Games and Visual Concepts decided to cancel WWE 2K21 in order to focus on making WWE 2K22 the ultimate wrestling game possible. Fans are understandably hopeful that this latest iteration will not be a standard WWE 2K game.
WWE 2K22 news has slowly trickled out since its reveal last year, and this next installment appears to be rather exciting. More information will be released soon, but a big leak on social media has revealed 2K22’s cover star, deluxe edition features, and early release date.
WWE 2K22 will be released in March 2022, with the phrase “it hits different,” according to WWE’s annual SummerSlam event.
On Twitter (via VGC), TechnikNews writer Nils Ahrensmeier shared an early look at WWE 2K22’s cover art, which features Rey Mysterio in both the standard and Deluxe Edition variants. Ahrensmeier also revealed a few new details about WWE 2K22, including a three-day early access period beginning March 8 and a pre-order bonus bundle centered on The Undertaker in the Deluxe Edition.
The pre-order rewards will be the Undertaker Immortal Pack, which is said to have three new Undertaker personalities – Phantom Mask Undertaker, Lord of Darkness Undertaker, and Boneyard Match Undertaker – as well as undefined MyFaction Perks and Bonuses, as well as Undertaker EVO cards.
According to reports, the Undertaker Immortal Pack will be available in both the deluxe and nWo 4-Life editions of the game, with the former including the Season Pass (thanks, VGC).
With the release of 2K22 just around the corner, developer Visual Concepts has wasted no time in showcasing the rewards of the game’s prolonged development time with many exciting 2K22 trailers over the past year. The most recent of these early looks, released in November, revealed updated character models for WWE stars such as Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio, as well as a variety of gameplay features such as Create-A-Wrestler, GM Mode, and the brand-new MyFaction mode, which allows players to create their own stable of wrestlers.
Furthermore, the 2K Showcase mode in 2K22 is supposed to be based on Rey Mysterio’s long and famous career in the WWE, as evidenced by the game’s cover image.
