WWE Creatives are working on plans for the return of former Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes
Ever since Cody Rhodes left AEW, the reunion of Rhodes with WWE is on the horizon. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter WWE, the creative team is actively working on a return plan for Rhodes. However, the report doesn’t indicate when he will return to the company.
Rhodes has been rumoured to be headed back to WWE ever since he has left AEW last month. The new report notes that Rhodes will be returning soon to the company unless the deal falls apart.
There has been a lot of speculation on WWE making Rhodes return on the Raw after WrestleMania, the biggest TV show of the year. However, nothing has been confirmed, but Rhodes returning to RAW makes more sense than returning at WrestleMania 38.
However, as reported, his wife Brandi Rhodes won’t be returning with him at WWE.
Cody Rhodes has a long history with WWE
Rhodes left AEW after being an EVP and signature talent in the company since its inception in 2019. However, Cody Rhodes has a long history with WWE. He is the son of Dusty Rhodes and brother of Dustin Rhodes, and both have been associated with WWE.
Cody joined the ranks of WWE in 2006 and was initially assigned to OVW. After becoming a Triple Crown Champion in OVW he was promoted to WWE’s main roster in 2007 and remained in the company for nine years.
During his time in WWE, he became a two-time Intercontinental Champion and was a dominating tag team champion. He won six tag team championships with four separate tag team partners. He left WWE after requesting his release in May 2016.
