Mandy Rose held the NXT Women’s Championship for 413 days before dropping it to Roxanne Perez on this week’s edition of WWE NXT.
After competing in the 2015 edition of Tough Enough and finishing runner-up, Mandy Rose made her in-ring debut in NXT during a six-woman tag team match at a live event in Venice, Florida on January 30, 2016.
After being on NXT for a while, Rose was moved to the main roster as part of the faction known as Absolution. The heel faction comprised the trio of Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, and Paige. Rose wrestled across both brands, Raw and SmackDown during his stint on the main roster. She didn’t win a title though. However, her on-screen love story with Otis became quite popular among fans during the Thunderdome era.
In July 2021, Rose returned to NXT and formed a faction known as Toxic Attraction in August alongside Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin. They were at the forefront of the women’s division for well over a year and held all the gold in the women’s division at the same time. Dolin and Jayne dropped the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships on a couple of occasions but Rose held the NXT Women’s Championship for 413 days. This was until she dropped the title on the December 13 episode of NXT.
Roxanne Perez won the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline and earned a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship.
Perez was in the ring, cutting a promo to get this week’s episode of NXT underway. However, she was cut short by an ambush from Rose. This infuriated Perez and she challenged Rose to a title match later that night.
Rose and Perez faced each other in the main event and the latter went on to win the title. Later, it was revealed that Rose has been released from WWE.
Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful reported that WWE had no other choice as the content that Rose was posting on her FanTime page was outside the parameters of her contract.
Whenever superstars are released from WWE, fans speculate if they are going to join AEW. The same is the case with Mandy Rose as fans have started speculating whether the 32-year-old will be joining Tony Khan’s company.
In the Busted Open Radio show, former WWE superstar Tommy Dreamer confirmed that IMPACT is interested in signing Rose. Dreamer said that If AEW doesn’t go all-out for Mandy, IMPACT will surely sign her.
“If she doesn’t go to AEW, 1,000 percent Impact would love to have her. Because she’s a star and she’s great in the ring. And if AEW doesn’t jump on that, Impact will. Mandy Rose, call me, text me, DM me,” Tommy Dreamer said. (H/T: WrestlingInc)
Many former WWE superstars have reacted after Rose’s release from WWE. One among them is Saraya (aka Paige) who was by Rose’s side when the latter made her debut on the main roster. Saraya, who is currently signed to AEW, and made her return to the ring, took to Twitter and wrote:
“Love you sister @WWE-MandyRose”
Will we see Saraya and Mandy Rose reunite in AEW? We will have to wait and see. As of now, there is no update regarding AEW’s interest in signing Rose. However, judging by her popularity, it will not be a surprise if AEW goes on to sign the former NXT Champion. We will keep you updated.
