WrestleMania 36 will be held on 4 April and 5 April 2020 without any fans
WWE might host WrestleMania 36 from the Performance Center this year, but they have decided to split the mega event over two days.
This is the first time something like this is being done in WWE and it leads to several possibilities for WrestleMania 36.
The event is the biggest wrestling show in the world but if often goes on for hours, which can be a problem for the fans.
Rob Gronkowski will host the event over the two days. The former NFL star is the latest signing by WWE and he was excited at the prospect, even if the WWE Universe wasn’t.
It’s official! I’m hosting @WrestleMania this year…and it’s gonna be too big for just one night. For the 1st time, #WrestleMania will be a 🚨2-NIGHT🚨event: Saturday, April 4 AND Sunday, April 5 on @WWENetwork! Tell you more this Friday night on #SmackDown at 8 ET on @FOXTV.

The right decision on several levels
WWE hasn’t made the right decisions always, but this one certainly works well, at least from a wrestling point of view.
WrestleMania has the biggest match card of any event in the year and the show often goes on for 6-7 hours, if not more.
That really drains the energy from the fans and by the time the main events come, they are often unable to create the right atmosphere.
Also, the splitting of the event allows for two main events, something that helps all parties. You could split up the WWE and Heavyweight title fights or even make one of the women bouts as the main event.
This allows for several combinations to push matches too, and it will be interesting to see how thing work out this year.
Fans won’t be tired watching it, and it also allows the fans at home to enjoy the matches and not be stuck in front of a TV or screen for half the day.
This also opens up the avenue of getting more viewers over the weekend. Having half of the show on Saturday and the other half of Sunday makes it a real WrestleMania weekend.
Some issues to still work out
This year’s WrestleMania will be without any crowd, so there is no issue regarding tickets etc. However, it will be interesting to see how things work out next year.
Hopefully, the coronavirus pandemic dies out and things return to normal soon. WrestleMania over two days will have a financial cost too. This might fill up the coffers of WWE and hopefully, fans aren’t priced out for the two days.
WWE could reduce overall ticket prices and make it a great event for all involved. They could even hand fans the choice to attend a particular day.
Splitting WrestleMania over two days certainly is a good move, and hopefully, it all works out.
