In this article, we will take a look at all the legendary members of the famous Anoa’i family. The family boasts of members such as Roman Reigns, The Rock, Rikishi and several others.
High Chief Peter Maivia
He was the maternal grandfather of The Rock and was blood brothers with The Wild Samoans’ father, Amituanai Anoa’i. Maivia and his family have been considered an extended part of the Anoa’i family.
He had won various championships during his career. He was also a promoter for the National Wrestling Alliance in Hawaii. Maivia was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008.
The Wild Samoans – Afa and Sika
Afa and Sika were three-time World Tag Team Champions. They were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. The duo won a total of 21 tag team championships around the world.
The pair had last appeared at the 2020 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view to celebrate Roman Reigns’ victory over another Anoa’i family member Jey Uso. Sika is the father of the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns and former WWE Superstar Rosey.
Rocky Johnson
Rocky Johnson is a WWE Hall of Famer and father of The Rock. He married Peter Maivia’s daughter, Ata Johnson and they gave birth to the People’s Champ.
Rocky Johnson was the first Black Georgia Heavyweight Champion as well as the NWA Television Champion. He passed away a couple of years ago on 15 January 2020.
Tonga Kid
Tonga Kid is the nephew of Aka and Sika and was a popular name in the pro wrestling circuit in the 1980s. He is the twin brother of Rikishi.
The 56-year-old is the father of Jacob Fatu, who currently wrestles for Major League Wrestling. Kid is also the older brother of Umaga, who died of a heart attack on December 4, 2009.
Rikishi
Rikishi is one of the most famous wrestlers of his time with a unique wrestling style. He is a one-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time World Tag Team Champion, and one-time WWE Tag Team Champion.
Rikishi was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 by his sons Jimmy and Jey Uso. Popular NXT 2.0 Superstar Solo Sikoa is also another son of Rikishi.
Yokozuna
Yokozuna needs no introduction. The two-time WWE Champion was one of Aka and Sika’s many nephews. The big man was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012 by his cousins, The Usos and Rikishi.
Yokozuna died from pulmonary edema at the age of 34. The ring name Yokozuna was a reference to the highest rank in professional sumo wrestling in Japan.
The Rock
When The Rock arrived in WWE, he wrestled under the name Rocky Maivia, in tribute to his father and grandfather. He is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time and also a Hollywood megastar.
He won the WWE Championship on 8 occasions and during his WCW days, he became the WCW Champion twice. The 50-year-old is one of the world’s highest-grossing and highest-paid actors.
Jamal/Umaga and Rosey
Cousins Matt Anoa’i and Eddie Fatu were part of the powerful tag team 3- minute Warning. Jamal was a brother of Rikishi and uncle to twin nephews Jimmy and Jey Uso.
The duo won tag team championships in various promotions. Rosey went on to become a World Tag Team Champion alongside The Hurricane. Jamal was repackaged as Umaga, and he enjoyed tremendous success as a monster heel winning the Intercontinental Championship a couple of times. He faced the best wrestlers in WWE during his time. The likes of John Cena, Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Bobby Lashley, and many more endured the wrath of The Samoan Bulldozer.
Manu
Afa’s son, Manu, debuted in WWE in 2007. He was part of the heel faction known as Legacy for a short time. Manu had a great run in World Xtreme Wrestling, where he won the WXW Cruiserweight Championship twice, the WXW Hardcore Championship thrice, and the WXW Heavyweight Championship on one occasion.
He also won the WXW Tag Team Championship thrice. The 37-year-old is also a former WXW Television Champion and a two-time WXW Ultimate Heavyweight Champion.
Roman Reigns
The Head of the Table made his successful debut on the main roster as a part of the very popular stable known as The Shield. After his stint with that stable, he started wrestling in one-on-one matches and received phenomenal success.
Reigns is a former Intercontinental Champion and the United States Champion. He also held the WWE Tag Team Championships once with Shield buddy Seth Rollins.
The 36-year-old is the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and the leader of the stable known as The Bloodline which contains The Usos as well.
Jimmy and Jey Uso
Jimmy and Jey are twin brothers and as mentioned previously, the sons of Rikishi. They are 7-time tag team champions and currently the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. In fact, The Usos are the longest-reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions of all time.
They are considered one of the best tag teams in pro wrestling at the moment. Jey Uso had also won the Andre the Giant Battle Royal in 2021.
Naomi
Naomi became a part of the Anoa’i family after she got married to Jimmy Uso in 2014. She is a former 2-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and the current Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Sasha Banks.
Naomi is the stepmother to Jimmy’s two children. She was also a background dancer for rapper Flo Rida before venturing into pro wrestling.
Tamina
She is also considered a part of the family as her father, Jimmy Snuka, married into the family through his first wife Sharon Georgi.
The 44-year-old is a former Women’s Tag Team Champion and a two-time 24/7 Champion in WWE. She is a distant relative to Roman Reigns.
Nia Jax
Peter Maivia’s first cousin Joseph Fanene was the father of Savelina Fanene, who was formerly known in WWE as Nia Jax.
Jax is a two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion and she also won the Raw Women’s Championship on one occasion. Ata Maivia, who is The Rock’s mother, is Jax’s aunt, and The Rock, therefore, is her cousin.
