The seventh WWE pay-per-view of the year is almost upon us. WWE Money in the Bank takes place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on Saturday, July 2.
WWE has done their best to put up a great match card. Four titles will be defended at the event. In the following segment, we will take a look at the matches and predict the outcome of them with reasons.
Carmella won a fatal 5-way match on RAW to become the no. 1 contender for Bianca Belair’s RAW Women’s Championship. Other participants in the fatal 5-way match were Asuka, Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss, and Becky Lynch.
Carmella is a former SmackDown Women’s Champion in her own right but has not wrestled too many matches of late. Her wedding with Corey Graves happened in April and that also played a part in her being off WWE television lately. The Princess of Staten Island returned with a bang by winning the crucial fatal 5-way encounter. However, it is expected that Belair would not drop the title to Carmella. The EST has been pushed quite strongly and it seems that she will have a long reign as the champion.
Prediction – Bianca Belair to retain
Ronda Rousey returned emphatically at the Royal Rumble PPV earlier in the year and won the women’s Royal Rumble. She chose to challenge Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at the grandest stage of them all but the Queen retained in a match that had a controversial ending. At WrestleMania Backlash, the former MMA star finally managed to win her second world title in WWE. She will face her former tag team partner at the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV.
Natalya won a six-pack challenge a few weeks ago on SmackDown to become the no. 1 contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Since then, the Queen of Harts and the Baddest Woman on the Planet have been going after each other’s submission holds and asserting that their respective submission hold is the best. A few weeks ago, Natalya brutally assaulted the champion. Rousey would be seeking vengeance and we feel that she will retain till SummerSlam at least. SummerSlam is considered the biggest WWE PPV after WrestleMania and a crowd-puller like Rousey going into the event as the champion will certainly sell a lot of tickets for the Stamford-based company.
Prediction: Ronda Rousey to retain
The Street Profits are one of the most talented tag teams going around currently. The athleticism of Montez Ford is complemented ably by the power game of Angelo Dawkins. The feud has not been built nicely by WWE but you can expect the match to be exhilarating. The Usos and The Street Profits have had spectacular matches on RAW previously but at a PPV, this will be the first time the two tag teams would square off.
Coming to the prediction part, we expect The Usos to retain and continue their record-breaking reign as the tag champs. However, the win could be a controversial one and we might see a rematch at SummerSlam. However, it must be said that The Street Profits are a worthy enough team to win the gold. Maybe not at Money in the Bank but certainly in the near future.
Prediction: The Usos will retain but we might see a controversial finish.
The United States Championship will be defended in a PPV after a long time. In fact, this is the first time the United States Championship will be defended in a PPV in 2022. Vince McMahon’s protege, Theory has been on a roll since winning the United States Championship from Finn Balor earlier in the year. However, he will face his toughest challenge to date when he locks horns with the former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
Theory is someone that WWE is looking to project as the face of the company in the near future. For that to happen, he will need to continue beating more experienced and accomplished opponents week in and week out. That is one of the reasons we feel he will retain his title at Money in the Bank. Another reason why Theory could retain at Money in the Bank is because of the rumors of him facing John Cena at SummerSlam. Theory has been taking subtle digs at Cena over the last few weeks and there is a chance that the Leader of Cenation might return to the squared circle to face the promising 24-year-old for the United States Champion at the Biggest Event of the Summer.
Prediction: Theory to retain
Many wrestlers competing in this match can throw up fascinating possibilities while facing the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have a lot of history between them. There could be a deja vu moment if Rollins goes on to win the Money in the Bank briefcase and cash it in during the Brock Lesnar-Roman Reigns match at SummerSlam. Sami Zayn has tried his best to align himself with The Bloodline and if he manages to win the Money in the Bank contract, we might see him turn face and challenge the Tribal Chief.
Omos might not be pushed to the world title picture just yet. Drew McIntyre is already in line to face Reigns for the title at the Clash at the Castle event in September. Therefore, WW might not give the briefcase to the Scottish Warrior. The Celtic Warrior has been involved in a feud with The New Day and guiding the youngster Butch and Ridge Holland in his faction known as Fight Night. Don’t think the Celtic Warrior will be the winner at Money in the Bank. Our money is on Riddle.
The former United States Champion has been involved in a feud with The Bloodline for quite some time now. He had an opportunity to win the WWE Universal title a few weeks ago on SmackDown but failed to do so against a rampant Head of the Table. We feel that Riddle might be the best pick to win the briefcase.
Prediction: Riddle to win.
We will rule out Becky Lynch as she lost the RAW Women’s Championship to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 38. WWE might not want to have Big Time Becks face Belair once again as there are other wrestlers waiting to make a mark and win a world title. But they brought back Brock Lesnar to face Reigns at SummerSlam once again so WWE might just laugh at our prediction for Lynch and put the briefcase on her.
We saw Nikki A.S.H. winning the briefcase last year and it was quite unexpected. We might see WWE once again throw in a surprise and have Shotzi as the winner. However, our pick will be Alexa Bliss. She has a huge fanbase and since her return, she has portrayed a very different character. Her new gimmick seems to be a kind of mix of her two previous gimmicks – The Goddess and the demented Bliss.
Liv Morgan is a dark horse heading into the match. We feel that she might be a good pick and a deserving candidate as she has worked quite hard and improved by leaps and bounds as far as her in-ring skills are concerned.
Prediction: Alexa Bliss to win.
