Adam Cole recently split his ways with WWE by moving to AEW. Cole’s WWE career ended with a little bit of twist. The fans were eager to see him move from NXT to the big leagues of SmackDown and Raw but it never happened.
We recently covered that WWE wanted to put him in a managerial position with his new contract. It has now been cleared what was the managerial role all about.
On speaking with Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed:
“They were going to bring Adam Cole up and turn Keith Lee heel and make Adam Cole his manager”
It is shocking, isn’t it? WWE certainly had plans to move him up but not in a position Adam would’ve liked to be at. Keith Lee currently performs under Raw brand so it seems like WWE wanted to move him to Raw as well.
This insane idea was certainly not met with great interest by Adam who left the company to join AEW.
By parting ways with the WWE, Cole made it known that he wanted to continue performing in the ring. He made his first ever AEW appearance on All Out this past week. Cole joined his long time friends Kenny Omega and Young Bucks in his debut.
The former NXT star is set to have his first match in AEW next week. Adam will take on Frankie Kazarian in his debut match at AEW. Cole will look to start his AEW career with a win. Fans also look forward to seeing him perform at AEW.
