Roman Reigns secured a massive WrestleMania 37 win in controversial fashion after unconventional pin
WrestleMania is probably at its most exciting when there’s a title change. The thrill of seeing a new champion is just something else, especially if they’re the ones that the fans are backing to win.
And while WM 37 had its fair share of titles changing hands, the WWE Universal title remained in the possession of Roman Reigns.
‘The Tribal Chief’ was initially scheduled to take on Edge after the 2021 Royal Rumble called him out. But Bryan was added later to make it a triple threat match.
Nevertheless, the fight played out in a fashion which clearly showed WWE’s intent to establish Reigns as an unstoppable force.
The winning shot had Reigns pinning both Edge and Bryan for the win, which also ended The Rated R Superstar’s impressive winning streak. But there was something fishy about it, and one of the fans pointed it out.
Adam Pearce wants to have a word with referee regarding Roman Reigns winning at WrestleMania 37
And of the fans mentioned how Edge was the one pinning Bryan, so Reigns covering both of them doesn’t matter. By that logic, Edge should be champion.
Moreover, Edge’s pin on Bryan started first and it should have concluded first as well. Referee Charles Robinson did not restart the pinfall count after Reigns took over.
Adam Pearce, who has his own history with ‘The Big Dog’ took notice of the situation. The ref clarified why he took that decision.
But Pearce responded by calling the veteran to his office later on, indicating that there was something odd going on behind the scenes.
However, it seems like an unintended both by WWE that they now want to play out as an intentional Easter Egg of sorts.
It’s highly unlikely the champion is changed now but if Edge wins, it would surely be an odd way for him to get a hold of the title.
