Kofi Kingston beat both Randy Orton and Bobby Lashley on the same night
The 17th May 2021 episode of WWE RAW saw Kofi Kingston take on ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton, and win via pinfall.
‘The Legend Killer’ refused to apologize for hitting New Day with RKOs last week before the fight and his feud with the New Day continued after the bell rang.
Later in the night, Kingston answered Bobby Lashley’s open challenge. Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman were excluded from it by Lashley who wanted a new opponent for himself after he beat the two men at Backlash.
And it was Kingston who came out. The former WWE champion managed to win against the current champ, but MVP stated that it was not said anywhere that the match would be for the title.
Nevertheless, the fight gave us an idea that Lashley could now have a new challenger for his belt in the coming weeks.
Adam Pearce open to giving Kofi Kingston title shot after Bobby Lashley win
Kingston’s win caught Adam Pearce’s eye. And when he was asked if the Ghanaian should now get a title shot, he hinted that he was not against it.
It was confirmed at Backlash that Strowman was at Backlash to make the fight between McIntyre and Lashley even more physical and give it a grand ending.
While this would not be the ending to McIntyre and Lashley’s feud, Kingston could very well take up the mantle from ‘The Chosen One’, at least temporarily.
The two, alongside The Rock, are the only WWE superstars with African descent to have held the WWE championship.
Could WWE be planning something as iconic as they did with Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks back at WrestleMania 37?
