The executive Vice President of AEW was heavily rumored to be returning to WWE
Former Intercontinental champion, Cody Rhodes was rumored to be returning to WWE ahead of WrestleMania. Cody and his wife Brandi Rhodes left AEW last month.
As per reports, Cody was almost confirmed to be returning to WWE. The Miz and Edge teased Cody’s return last week on RAW. Edge had laid out an open challenge last week to anyone in the locker room for a match at WrestleMania 38.
Fans started speculating that it was going to be Cody Rhodes who would step up this week on RAW. That didn’t happen but AJ Styles accepted the challenge and became the catalyst for Edge’s heel-turn. Edge versus AJ Styles is a dream match nonetheless.
Now as per a new report from Cassidy Haynes at BodySlam.net, Cody’s return to WWE might not be successful.
According to Haynes, Rhodes had indeed been discussing a potential return to WWE but “those conversations have since fizzled out.”
Cody Rhodes might be heading back to AEW
Tony Khan announced this week on AEW Dynamite that he has bought Ring of Honor. Cody could be given a different role this time.
In an interesting turn of events, Cody Rhodes might once again be signing for AEW. Tony Khan’s reported plan for Ring of Honor is that it will serve as the developmental wing for AEW. Much like NXT for WWE. Some talents from AEW’s main roster would be making on and off appearances on ROH as well.
Cody Rhodes could be given the responsibility of nurturing the fresh talents in the ROH locker room and making them better performers who can make the jump to AEW.
Cody Rhodes has been in the news for a while now and wherever he goes he will bring a lot of experience and star power with him.
