AEW star Ricky Starks has idolized The Rock since his early childhood days
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, popularly known as The Rock due to his unparalleled time in the WWE is a massive global icon. He is known in every nook and corner of the world.
The Rock’s popularity reached new heights during the late 2000s and the early 2010s when he became a full-time movie star. The man actually began ageing in reverse and became known for his slick and macho look.
Up and coming wrestler Ricky Starks, who currently plies his trade in the AEW, is someone who grew up idolizing The Rock. He has often been compared to the ‘People’s Champ’ due to their similar styles.
Starks opened up about this in the recent episode of Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette. He exclaimed that it was crazy to be compared to a legend like The Rock.
Starks told Paquette
“That’s so crazy though. Because The Rock comparison is like ‘yo, The Rock wasn’t the only person who dressed nice.’ I guess we kind of look alike but…” [via WrestlingInc]
It is worthy mentioning that Starks had a try out with the WWE, back in 2013.
Ricky Starks speaks about his fashion sense
Starks is known for the way he dresses and carries himself. ‘Absolute’ has a separate fanbase for his fashion sense.
In the same podcast with Renee Paquette, Starks opened up about where he draws his inspiration from. He also had some suggestions on where to get cool men’s outfits from.
Starks said:
“I’ve always liked fashion for whatever reason. I just like looking good and I like expressing myself in terms of the clothes I wear. There’s people like Tom Ford that I like. Believe it or not, Gucci has some really nice men’s outfits in terms of the pants or jacket. Alexander Wayne, who else? Those are the main people. Honestly, I just go through, I have a Tumblr and a Pinterest. Sometimes, whatever’s curated on that main page, I just scroll through and I just get ideas from other people who have done similar styles.” [via WrestlingInc]
Starks recently injured his neck, and will be out for an extended period of at least 3 months. He is expected to have slightly fractured his neck.
