AJ Lee reacts after CM Punk mentions wife on AEW Dynamite
Former WWE Superstar AJ Lee has reacted after CM Punk ended his promo sending a message to his wife on Dynamite.
AJ Lee reacted to the comments made by her husband on Twitter. She hilariously posted saying:
“Wasn’t expecting to hear my government name tonight.”
Punk made his debut on AEW Rampage’s All Elite Wrestling and in the process conquered the world of wrestling. The Straight Edge Superstar appeared on this week’s AEW Dynamite and the former WWE Champion promoted his fight with Darby Allin on the upcoming PPV All Out.
Punk ended his segment before returning to the mic and saying:
“One more thing, I just wanna say hi to my beautiful wife, sitting at home. I love you, April.”
The two have been married since 2014 after meeting in WWE and sharing a storyline together. Lee retired from wrestling in 2015 and is a three-time WWE Divas Champion. There have been many calls for her return, but she has stayed away from the limelight since her retirement. Her last match in WWE came in 2015 with Naomi and Paige against The Bella Twins and Natalya.
Why did AJ Lee leave WWE?
AJ Lee revealed that she was not happy with the organisation and their approach to injuries to Superstars. Her injuries were a massive factor for leaving WWE. She has permanent damage to her cervical spine, which forced her into retirement. Since then, she has written comic books for IDW Publishing and has been promoting mental health awareness on multiple platforms.
With the controversial exit of her husband CM Punk from the company, she continued for a year after which she asked for a release from the contract. The couple have made various appearances after leaving WWE and reside in Chicago, Illinois.
