AJ Styles reacted to Austin Theory’s forearm smash on Karrion Kross
The rivalry between NXT Champion Karrion Kross and Austin Theory (and Johnny Gargano) has intensified over the past few weeks on the black and gold brand.
Gargano and Theory double teamed Kross, while he battled to fight them off. The segment even got the attention of WWE Raw Tag Team Champion AJ Styles who saw a replica of his move used by Theory. He responded saying:
Theory responded with a “star-struck” emoticon to express his amazement at receiving appreciation from one of the best wrestlers in the business. Kross defeated Theory back on the May 11 NXT show. The reign of Kross is at stake as he prepares to face a difficult run-in in the next few weeks.
Theory is known for his skilled moveset but his forearm smash seems like a tribute to The Phenomenal One. Styles, meanwhile, partners Omos and are the current champions on the red brand. His loss against Drew McIntyre in a Triple Threat qualifying match means that he will not be part of the ladder match on July 18 at WWE Money in the Bank.
What happened on this week’s NXT?
Kross is undoubtedly one of the best wrestlers in the division and has shown it on various occasions. With both Theory and Gargano getting one on the champion, it was time for him to retaliate with his next move.
Once he took control. he attacked Gargano and plummeted him to the floor before almost ending him with the steel staircase. Kross was stopped by enforcer Samoa Joe and security officials.
The rivalry looks set to turn worse over the next few weeks and become one of the hottest feuds in NXT currently.
