AJ Styles faced Edge at WrestleMania 38 but ended up losing against him
AJ Styles entered the ring during his WrestleMania match with blood on his face. His entrance was being compared to Goldberg’s entrance where the latter was also seen entering the ring with a gash on his forehead. Though Goldberg had banged his head on a door causing the wound, such was not the case with Styles.
Edge vs AJ Styles was a dream match in the making and it finally took place at WrestleMania 38. Over his years at WWE, Styles has faced several legendary opponents, including Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, and The Undertaker.
Several reports surfaced since people spectated Styles appearing with blood on his face. Dave Meltzer initially reported that the wound was caused by a cut from the pyro. But later a video posted by WrestlingInc from a fan, saw Styles receiving the gash from hitting his head on the entrance ramp. Styles received the cut from a botch during his entrance.
The dream match between these two saw Edge gaining the upper hand and defeating the ‘Phenomenal One’. The cut had no effect in the match and neither did it cause any injury. Styles lost the match after an interference from Damien Priest. Edge brought out his darkness and faced the Pitbull in AJ Styles. The match witnessed Styles performing a 450 splash only to be countered by Edge by putting his knees up. The match had a good pace and was well dominated by both the veterans.
The match was gruesome and saw, and Styles putting his popped out shoulder socket back in place. This made Styles limited to only one arm but he still kept on fighting. He delivered a torture Rack Bomb and, in a pivotal moment, hit the Styles Clash, but still came up short. As Styles was preparing for a phenomenal forearm, he was distracted by Damien Priest. ‘The ultimate opportunist’ saw the opportunity and delivered a mid-air spear to take home the win.
