Finn Balor is the second ever Irish world Champion in WWE after Sheamus and is the quickest wrestler in WWE history to win a world title at 27 days following his main roster debut. Let’s find out more about his championship titles.
On 28 July, WWE officially confirmed the signing of Fergal Devitt under the ring name Finn Balor. Balor received his title match against Kevin Owens but was unsuccessful. However, he received another title shot against Owens at The Beast in the East. This time he defeated Owens to win the NXT Championship for the first time in his career and became the longest-reigning(combined) NXT Champion in history.
Finn Balor’s second reign as NXT Champion came on 8 September at NXT: Super Tuesday II. Balor defeated Adam Cole to win the vacant NXT Championship for the second time.
At the start of 2019, Finn Balor started a rivalry with Bobby Lashley, the reigning Intercontinental Champion. There was an intense feud between Lashley and Balor. At the elimination chamber, Lashley put the Intercontinental title against Finn Balor.
However, Balor managed to hit Rush with the Coup de Grace to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.
After winning the Intercontinental Continental Championship from Bobby Lashley at the Chambers, Balor lost the title to Lashley after 21days as champion. Balor earned a rematch with Lashley at WrestleMania 35. Where he re-introduced his famous “Demon King” persona. It was a hard-fought battle that involved several powerbombs. Balor won the match, followed by a Coup de Grace and became a two-time Intercontinental Champion.
“The Extraordinary Man who can do Extraordinary Things” was one of the top picks of the WWE Draft. He immediately made his mark as he defeated Kevin Owens, Rusev and Cesaro in a fatal four-way match. And then defeated Roman Reigns to earn a chance at SummerSlam.
Balor faced off against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2016. He wrestled Rollins as The Demon King and again used his trademark Coup de Grace, to become the first WWE Universal Champion.
Finn Balor and Samoa Joe teamed up for fierce competition in the inaugural event. They defeated well-established pairings to reach the finals.
Balor and Joe went head to head against Baron Corbin and Rhyno in the finals. The tag-team of Balor and Joe did an exceptional job and defeated them. Balor performed a Coup de Grace on Rhyno to win the tournament for his team. Balor became the first wrestler in WWE history to win a world title in their pay-per-view debut. In 2021, the NXT Championship became officially recognized by WWE as a world championship during Balor’s reign making him a three-time world champion in WWE.
Finn Balor finally became a WWE Triple Crown Champion this week on Monday Night Raw, where he defeated Damian Preist to win the United States Championship for the first time in his career.
Priest put on a great fight and attempted at The Reckoning , but Balor reversed it to hit the Shotgun Dropkick and Coup de Grace to win the title.
