Andrade names Rey Mysterio among three WWE stars that he still wants to wrestle

Andrade has revealed the names of the three WWE superstars that he still wants to wrestle, following his release from the company earlier this month.

Andrade’s near six-year association with the pro-wrestling behemoth came to an end this past month. WWE granted his request for a release after having earlier declined it.

The Luchador hadn’t been seen on television since late October last year and had seemingly grown frustrated with the lack of direction for his character. Andrade enjoyed a good run on WWE NXT but couldn’t repeat the success after being promoted to the main roster.

A run with the United States Championship aside, WWE were not always able to utilise him in a way to get the best out of El Idolo.

Now that he has been released, Andrade looks back on his time in WWE fondly and has opened up on who among his former colleagues he would like to wrestle.

Speaking to Harry Ruiz, Andrade revealed that working with the current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was something he always desired. The Luchador also added that he never got a one-on-one bout with Randy Orton. He also stated that Rey Mysterio was his favourite opponent and one he would like to work with again.

Andrade won the WWE United States Championship by defeating Rey Mysterio at a house show. Following that he defended the title successfully twice against Rey, one of which came in a Ladder Match.

Prior to that, the pair was also involved in a storyline in which Andrade had torn off Mysterio’s mask as he wished to ‘end his legacy’.

Their last singles bout was a non-title match that went down in March 2020 on RAW with Rey defeating Andrade. Given their move-sets and the chemistry that they showed in their matches, seeing them square off again in the ring in the future would be a welcome sight.
