April Hunter recalled how WWE dealt with sexual abuse allegations made by Ashley Massaro prior to her death
April Hunter reminded fans of how WWE handled sexual abuse allegations from Ashley Massaro prior to her death.
The #SpeakingOut movement has taken the wrestling world by storm in the past week or so. A number of pro-wrestlers, who have faced sexual abuse from co-workers, have bravely come out and shared their stories.
April Hunter, an indie wrestler herself, spoke out about how she was a subject of abuse from former WWE, TNA and ECW wrestler Raven (Scott Levy).
#speakingout
Raven/Scott literally tortured me – for an entire month-long Euro tour. Advances, touching, innuendo, bullying, putting me down.
Other guys on tour had to pair with me when possible because he was such a predator.

Hunter recalls WWE’s handling of Massaro’s sexual abuse allegations
With the movement gaining huge momentum, Hunter reminded fans about how poorly WWE had dealt with former WWE superstar Ashley Massaro’s sexual abuse allegations prior to her death.
Massaro, who passed away in May last year, had allegedly faced sexual abuse during WWE’s trip to visit the troops in Kuwait.
A lawsuit she had filed against the promotion prior to her tragic death revealed how the man drugged and sexually abused her while on tour. It also claimed that WWE management, including Vince McMahon, told her to forget the incident because it would “ruin the relationship between the WWE and the U.S. Military.”
#SpeakingOut Ashley Massaro is dead, y'all. She was RAPED on a military base tour overseas and then told to keep her mouth shut by WWE.
And she's killed herself…not that long ago.
Let's not forget HER story and life.— April Hunter (@AprilHunter) June 19, 2020
In a later statement, WWE vehemently denied all such allegations. The company had claimed that at no point anyone within the organization were made aware of the incident by Massaro.
WWE acting on latest allegations
A number of WWE stars have been called out in the #SpeakingOut movement over the past week. Matt Riddle, Jack Gallagher, Jordan Devlin, El Ligero are but a few names that have been called out. In fact, WWE has already taken action against Gallagher, releasing him from the company.
Rival promotion AEW also acted against rising star Sammy Guevara, suspending him, after the horrific remarks he made to WWE Superstar Sasha Banks a few years ago, came to light.
Accusations of sexual harassment should not be taken lightly. Hopefully, those responsible are dealt with properly and the incidents are not covered up like it was in Ashley’s case.
