Asuka could have suffered a serious head injury after a powerbomb from Bianca Belair

The Christmas edition of WWE SmackDown had three titles on the line with Asuka and Charlotte Flair putting up their Women’s tag titles up against two teams.

Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks teamed up while Carmella did that with Bayley. Asuka and Flair had only won the title at TLC 2020 and this was going to be a tough test for the pair.

This turned out to be an elimination match with Mella and Bayley getting pinned first. Belair, who has been impressive since coming to SmackDown, and Banks had the champions on the ropes.

Belair is known as the EST of WWE and has a ton of power, and she was more than happy to prove that on Asuka.

The Japanese star was powerbombed by the EST of WWE and replays confirmed that she had smacked the back of her head.

This could have been a serious injury as many stars have been dealt concussions after such impacts. Fortunately, Asuka was able to continue the match and even retain the titles. However, the Empress of Tomorrow was quick to share how the slam felt and said this was like a car crash:

Working well as a pair

Asuka and Charlotte haven’t brought up their rivalry since they have teamed up. Charlotte and Asuka were bitter rivals but this team has helped The Queen finally become a Grand Slam champion.

It will be interesting to see what is next for the pair. Charlotte’s WWE return was a huge boost and The Queen looks to be back at her best.

However, she would be keen on claiming a singles title and she could turn out to be the real rival for Asuka.

Lana, who was to be Asuka’s partner at TLC before she was injured, also could play a role in this rivalry. She wished Charlotte a Merry Christmas but something just didn’t seem right in her tweet.
