Asuka is one of the best female wrestlers to have stepped foot inside the squared circle as far as pro wrestling is concerned.
As per Fightful Select, there are plans in place for Asuka’s return to WWE and it will be on the red brand. According to the report, Asuka might be seen in WWE once again as early as on this week’s episode of RAW. This certainly is great news not only for her many fans but for pro wrestling fans in general.
The report states that the plan for Asuka is that she will enter at least a “short-term program” with Becky Lynch. It was also noted that both the Empress of Tomorrow and the WWE creative team pitched various ideas for how she could return.
Now, it’s just a matter of time before we see the three-time world champion in WWE, return to action and captivate the WWE Universe.
Why was Asuka not seen in WWE for so long?
The 40-year-old Asuka last appeared in WWE in the 2021 Money in the Bank. During the 2021 WWE Draft, Asuka was not drafted and was declared a free agent.
The Japanese star had shoulder surgery following the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. In September, she underwent a dental procedure after a grueling match with Shayna Baszler in which Asuka lost at least one tooth.
In February, WWE officials reportedly informed Fightful, that they expected Asuka to return in the Spring. This new update will come as a breath of fresh air for the WWE Universe.
Asuka is the third Women’s Triple Crown Champion and the second Women’s Grand Slam Champion. She also won the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018 and the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in 2020.
