Authors of Pain hit back at retirement reports
Former Raw Tag Team Champions Akam and Rezar – called the Authors of Pain (AOP) have denied retirement rumours with a new post on Twitter.
Earlier, it was given that the duo had not wrestled in a long time and have been working ‘regular jobs.’ A wrestling promoter was informed of their lack of in-ring action after a potential signing of the pair.
Akam and Rezar were released in September 2020, after WWE announced budgets cuts due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Promotions like AEW and NJPW are potential destinations after a long hiatus.
However, Akam and Rezar both tweeted a post absolutely quashing all the buzz surrounding them. The post read: ” Ain’t done yet b*****.”
The former Tag Team Champions management is by Paul Ellering and Drake Maverick during their time on WWE Raw.
Akam and Rezar joined NXT in 2016 with Paul Ellering as their manager. They are also the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2016. The pair were promoted two years after to WWE Raw. AOP were part of a big feud with Sanity on NXT before making the move up. They also teamed up with Seth Rollins on WWE Raw to deliver good segments as a trio.
Unfortunately, after a good run, Rezar suffered a bicep injury in March 2020. The release was given six months after to the team, after a drop in their performances.
Moreover, The pair is often dubbed as one of the best wrestling teams in recent years on WWE Raw. After their release, they were away from live television for a long time.
However, with the recent post, it seems that the brothers’ with their manager Paul Ellering are going to return soon. A possible return is going to be on the cards with AEW and NJPW as likely destinations for the duo. Furthermore, they will be itching to be back to the wrestling circuit and winning the gold while dominating the division.
