Bad Bunny leading a star such as Roman Reigns in merchandise sales shows WWE made a great call
Just a few days before the Royal Rumble 2021, WWE announced that Bad Bunny would be the guest performer at the PPV.
The two-time Latin Grammy Award winner performed ‘Booker T’, a hit song from his latest album. After that, he appeared on RAW the following day.
Both times, he got physical inside the ring, indicating that he was brought for more than just his songs. A short while later, it was revealed that he could even make his in-ring debut soon.
His arrival at the show has proved to be a marketing success. In the sales figures released recently, Wrestling Inc. (h/t Forbes) reported that he was leading the merchandise sales ranking quite prominently.
Bad Bunny’s merchandise, at one point, occupied the top 4 spots in the merchandise sales section. His t-shirt was at the #1 spot. The women’s version was at #3, while the kids’ edition was at #4.
His hoodie occupied the #2 spot. The only other WWE personality on the list was WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns, who was in 5th spot.
Moreover, it is estimated that he brought approximately $500,000 to the WWE shop just by his merchandise sales. That is truly a remarkable figure.
His popularity is not to be doubted. He is quite arguably the most famous Latin American singer right now. His albums are doing numbers and WWE have been smart to capitalize on it.
This will undoubtedly push the promotion to feature him on prominently on the show. He even appeared on this week’s Monday Night RAW.
Despite the show recording the lowest TRP rating for the promotion this year so far, he was a trending topic on Twitter. WWE should now be careful when managing him and know when to use him to maximize benefits for the company.
