‘The Animal’ Batista responded to being turned down for playing the role of Bane.

Batista, one of the best modern wrestlers in the WWE, made heads turn during his tenure at the promotion from 2002-2010.

He dominated the WWE with his brutal power and insane strength, also having held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship belt for an extended period of time.

Batista has won several titles in the WWE

As the years progressed, he slowly made his foray into the movie industry. Though he has featured in quite a number of films, he is well known for playing Drax the Destroyer in The Guardians of the Galaxy of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He recently shared his experience of getting turned down for playing the role of Bane in the upcoming Batman (2022) film. The role of Bane was played by Tom Hardy to near perfection in the 2012 Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Batista revealed how he directly went to DC films and asked them straightaway to cast him as Bane, going on to say how the people at DC films mention that they were not even thinking of casting Bane.

Batista confirms he will never be coming back to WWE

Many a time we see professional wrestlers announcing their retirement and then deciding to come back. A good example would be ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ Edge’s comeback at the 2020 Royal Rumble, which no one saw coming.

However, Batista has no plans of coming back to the WWE. The 52-year old American admitted that he was done and wouldn’t come back even if he was to receive a hefty paycheck.

Speaking to Justice Con, Batista clarified:

“It’s hard to convince people that I’m actually retired. You have no idea how tough that discussion is. When professional wrestlers retire, they don’t really retire. They kind of retire. But, you know, when the paycheck’s big enough or the event’s big enough, they come out of retirement. It’s just not that way with me. I exited the business in such a storybook way, I’d never go back. I would never take away from that, I am just done, man, I really got to finish on my own terms and nothing is going to take away from that.” [via MovieWeb.com]
