Both Bayley and Paige are two of the most popular female athletes to have ever competed in a WWE ring.
After suffering a neck injury during a WWE live event in late 2017, Paige was told she would never wrestle again, meaning her career was over at just 25. The first NXT Women’s champion, however, still hopes to be back in the ring someday and takes inspiration from the likes of Edge and Daniel Bryan who had to retire due to injuries but recovered and made remarkable comebacks.
Bayley, on the other hand, suffered a torn ACL during training at WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando in the middle of last year. This has kept her out of action for close to 9 months now. WWE had actually announced back in July last year that Bayley would be out of action for 9 months. So we can expect Bayley to be returning soon. In fact, there were rumors that she could return at Royal Rumble this year but it didn’t happen.
9-year anniversary of Bayley’s first televised match in WWE
Bayley has accomplished a lot over the years in WWE. She has had some memorable feuds with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Asuka, and more.
Bayley is a former one-time NXT Women’s Champion, one-time RAW Women’s Champion, two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, and two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion (w/Sasha Banks).
A fan recently noted that it’s the 9-year anniversary of Bayley’s first televised match on NXT. The fan shared a picture and tweeted:
“Today is nine year anniversary of @itsBayleyWWE 1st televised match in the WWE”
Bayley quote retweeted the tweet from the fan and expressed gratitude to Paige who was her opponent in the match. The 32-year-old Bayley, who had lost that match wrote:
“Thanks @RealPaigeWWE – Pamela Martinez is forever grateful”
