Nikki Cross will face Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s title at WWE Extreme Rules
There was a shocking result on SmackDown as Nikki Cross won a Fatal 4-way match to set up a title clash against Bayley at Extreme Rules.
Bayley is the current WWE Women’s SmackDown Champion and was on commentary duty with Sasha Banks.
The pair are also the Women’s Tag champions and were out to scope Bayley’s future rival. While Lacey Evans or Alexa Bliss would have been the picks for the match, Cross used great ring awareness to pick up the win.
The former tag champion went ballistic and even went on to say that she is still great friends with Bliss.
Bliss and Cross have fought against Bayley and Banks several times, and it seems the Goddess will support her friend at WWE Extreme Rules.
Cross is certainly not the name many would have expected to challenge Bayley. While she did have a crazy nature during her time on NXT, that has been toned down a bit since teaming up with Bliss.
However, Bayley doesn’t believe that Cross can be a real threat to the championship. The Role Model decided to share her thoughts on Twitter and seemed to question Cross and also laughed off the challenge:
Bayley has required some help from Banks to keep hold of the crown. However, they are two of the best heels in the business, and it will be interesting to see how this match goes.
Banks is also in the running for a second title. The Boss will tackle Raw Women’s Champion Asuka and hope that she also holds two belts like Bayley.
That would be amazing for the best friends. There were some tensions about Banks backstabbing Bayley regrading the SmackDown title. However, all that has been put on the back-burner since the pair reclaimed the tag titles.
Bayley has seen off all challengers to her title, but Cross could be a different task at Extreme Rules.
