Returning Superstar Becky Lynch to feature in heel gimmick on SmackDown
Former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is set to don a heel character after her return at SummerSlam.
PWInsider has confirmed with multiple WWE sources that Becky Lynch is now a heel. She’ll be the big bad of SmackDown’s women’s division, initially in a feud with Bianca Belair.
Bianca Bel Air was supposed to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship in a match against Sasha Banks. However, due to Banks being unable to compete, Lynch stepped in and defeated Bel Air in a squash match that lasted only 27 seconds.
“PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple WWE sources that Becky Lynch is now a heel,” “Yes, you read that correctly. We are told that going forward, Lynch will be positioned as the top heel on Smackdown, initially feuding with Bianca Belair.”
Lynch was missing after she announced her pregnancy in May 2020. She vacated the title on RAW to Asuka and was touted to return in October. There are reports that Lynch asked to turn heel after the situation and won the title on her first night back at a big event.
What do we expect now from Becky Lynch?
Lynch is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in women’s wrestling after becoming a huge favourite of the fans over the last few years. Her aura has created a good connection with the WWE Universe and she will be looking to make that work in a heel role.
The move could also bring in Sasha Banks and Belair both, in a rivalry like no other. It will be interesting to see how WWE holds the storyline and keeps it going in 2021. Lynch’s return will be a big boost and a wake-up call to the entire women’s roster in WWE.
