The RAW Women’s Champion and one of the most popular superstars in WWE, Becky Lynch, has reacted to the Chris Rock-Will Smith incident at the Oscars.
Will Smith slapped stand-up comedian Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards in a fit of anger. The incident took place when Rock joked about the popular actor’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock was the presenter at the star-studded event. The 57-year-old made a joke about Jada’s short hair resembling the G.I. Jane movie in which actress Demi Moore shaved her hair.
Will Smith took offense to this comment and marched up onto the stage and slapped Rock. The Dolby Theatre was engulfed in uncomfortable silence. Rock did well not to be taken aback by the moment and continued his part. The King Richard star went back to his seat and shouted “Leave my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth.”
Becky Lynch’s subtle reference to the incident
Becky Lynch defeated Rhea Ripley last week on Sunday at a WWE live event in Toronto. After the match, Canada’s very own, Trish Stratus appeared and slapped Becky before celebrating with Ripley to end the segment.
Lynch taunted that Trish was unhappy as the Toronto crowd gave “The Man” a bigger pop than the Hall of Famer.
Becky Lynch tweeted with a subtle reference to the Will Smith-Chris Rock incident:
“This was Trish’s reaction to me getting a bigger pop tonight at #WWEToronto
I did not deserve this.
Completely unwarranted.”
Lynch will defend her RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 38. She will go head to head with The EST of WWE – Bianca Belair. Lynch won her Championship from Belair at SummerSlam 2021 and has been holding the Title for over seven months now.
