WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix recently opened up on her in-ring return to the WWE
The last time, Beth Phoenix was a full-time wrestler, was in 2012. The WWE Hall of Famer announced her retirement at the age of 31, departing from the promotion after the October 29, 2012 episode of RAW.
While Phoenix initially revealed that she had left the promotion to look after her family, she came up with a different reason in September 2019, revealing that she didn’t like where the women wing of the WWE was headed to (back then).
Since 2012, Phoenix has made sporadic appearances in the promotion. She had become a part-time colour commentator for the WWE in 2018.
On the 1st of April in 2019, Phoenix made her in-ring return for the first time since 2012. She teamed with Natalya, Bayley and Sasha Banks and beat Nia Jax, Tamina, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.
Since then, Phoenix has made a couple of appearances in the promotion. She is now a full-time NXT commentator.
In the recent episode of Renee Young’s Oral Sessions podcast, Beth Phoenix stated that she was medically cleared and hinted at a possibility of a return.
She was quoted as saying:
I am (medically cleared). Once a wrestler, always a wrestler. I’m not gonna lie about it. I feel like, you couldn’t do this and want to do this your whole life without having that little bug. I get so happy to be in the conversation of today’s stars would look forward to facing. [via Rajah.com]
Beth Phoenix further revealed that she wasn’t done with wrestling. While Phoenix did hint at a possible return to the promotion, she claimed that she had some personal goals.
Phoenix said:
“I have a feeling there is somebody that will end up across the ring from me at some point. I don’t want to give any clues on that, but I don’t think Beth Phoenix is done lacing up the boots forever. Right now, with Adam’s current position, I have been in a supportive role and fortunately, it’s helpful for him to have a wife that he can bodyslam. I’ve been in the ring and pouring my energy into that. I do have some personal goals and I know the time is ticking on that stuff. There are little conversations had here and there.” [via Rajah]
