Edge rolled back the years with ‘The Brood’ entrance at SummerSlam 2021
Edge took on Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2021 in one of the longest matches of the night.
The long match started off quite slowly, before picking up pace after a while.
It was Edge all along, as the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ speared Rollins on the mat outside the ring. His famous ‘Edgecator’ also came into use.
However, Edge won the contest via. submission after choking Rollins until he tapped. Edge wasn’t particularly impressed with being called Edge-lite by Rollins, as the latter made an unsuccessful attempt to live in the veteran’s head.
There was another sight to behold during their match. It was Edge’s entrance. ‘The Ultimate Opportunist” brought out the Brood entrance, rolling back the years (all the way to the 90s).
The Brood was a stable in the 90s that comprised Edge, Christian and Gangrel. Although, they disbanded quite soon, their lasting effect was immense, especially due to their vampire-like Gothic gimmick.
Beth Phoenix elated to see her husband Edge as The Brood
Following Edge’s entrance as the Brood, his wife Beth Phoenix took to Twitter to reveal how she was one among the crowd in 1999 when future-husband Edge made his entrance as the Brood.
22 years later Phoenix got to witness the same.
Her tweet read:
“I sat in the crowd in 1999 and watched #TheBrood bring something so damn cool & unique to the Attitude Era. 22 years later I got to do it again. What a life. #SummerSlam.”
Phoenix who married Edge in 2016, is semi-retired and is the current colour commentator in the NXT.
