WWE Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch talk about what weighs in on Serrano-Taylor bout
Taylor and Serrano will become the first female fighters to headline Madison Square Garden tonight as they collide at the most prominent women’s boxing match in history.
There was an Irish-heavy crowd in attendance last night as the Bray-born Taylor weighed in at 136.6lbs to Serrano’s 133.6 lbs. Becky Lynch supported her counterpart Taylor and reflected on how both women grew up training in the same area in Ireland.
“Everyone in Ireland always knew what she was going to do. She was a legend,” Big Time Becks told DAZN. “I started wrestling, 15 years old, in a tiny little gym in Bray, County Wicklow. She was boxing, same age — 15 years old in a tiny little gym, Bray, County Wicklow.
“But everybody knew about her, everybody knew she was going to be a superstar, that she was going to be a legend, that she was going to change the game for women’s boxing, and she’s done that.
“To be able to experience that, to have gone on a similar trajectory — like, I was the first woman to win the main event at WrestleMania, here in New York, she’s going to be the first woman to main event Madison Square Garden in the biggest women’s boxing match in history. It’s beautiful and so well deserved.”
RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair supports Amanda Serrano ahead of tonight’s blockbuster title fight. The EST of WWE recently interviewed the Puerto Rican boxing star in a partnership segment between WWE and DAZN.
“I was watching the fight, and I said to myself, ‘yes, I’m going to do a Belair, and I’m going to dethrone the Irish champion,'” Serrano laughed.
Serrano also admitted that she took inspiration from Belair’s win over Lynch at WrestleMania 38. She will be looking to do the same tonight and win the biggest bout of her career.
