Stephanie McMahon gave her views on who Ms WrestleMania could be
Shawn Michaels is called Mr WrestleMania and that is a symbolic title that has stuck with him. Recently, Seth Rollins accorded that title to himself before WrestleMania 37.
But amidst all this, there is yet to be a female counterpart of that iconic name tag. And Stephanie McMahon, the Chief Brand officer at WWE, gave her views on this.
She was chatting on ESPN’s SportsNation (h/t prowrestling.com) and was asked who she thinks Ms WrestleMania is.
That question can have a number of answers considering the amount of iconic female wrestlers the show has had over the year.
It could be Charlotte Flair, the most decorated female wrestler in memory, or even someone like Trish Stratus, who was at the top of the list of greatest female WWE wrestlers in the modern era.
But Stephanie’s answer was different. And she instead with Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks, the two women who went head to head at WrestleMania 37 for the SmackDown women’s belt.
She does agree that the character of Ms WrestleMania is yet to evolve. But she thinks that the division will get there sooner rather than later.
“I don’t think we know who Ms. WrestleMania is yet. I don’t think it’s fair to say it would be Ronda [Rousey], Charlotte [Flair] or Becky [Lynch] because they main evented WrestleMania 35. I don’t think it’s fair to say it would be Trish [Stratus] or Lita, I don’t think it’s fair to say it would be any one of those women that you mentioned, only because I think she’s still yet to rise. Well, I think Ms. WrestleMania could very well be either Sasha Banks or Bianca Belair as they compete as the first African-American women to be a part and headline WrestleMania. I think one of them could absolutely steal the show and carry the banner but you know, we’ll see. I think time will tell. But that’s an awesome handle and a great suggestion that we should absolutely be using as well in addition to earning it. It could be a great thing for a character to call herself. We’ll see how that plays out.”
Banks is, of course, one of the three women Stephanie handpicked back in 2015 as a part of the Diva’s revolution on WWE.
But it seems that Belair, who won the title from ‘The Boss’ at WM 37 last weekend, could lay claim to such a title, considering the massive WWE machinery behind her recently that wants to push her to the pinnacle.
