Big E reveals his surprise on hearing of Malakai Black release from WWE
WWE SmackDown Superstar Big E reveals how he did not expect the release of former WWE star Malakai Black.
Black, formerly known as Aleister Black made a shock comeback to wrestling joining AEW after 30-days of his release from WWE.
Talking to Give Me Sport, Big E spoke about Malakai Black and his departure from the company, saying: (h/t Rajah.com)
“Yeah man, I didn’t know the plan, I didn’t know where we were going. The Aleister thing was an opportunity to do something different, a nice break from that, and it just ended up fizzling. Like I said, he’s very very good at what he does, and I wish him well.
“I’m not entirely sure why things went the way they did, but as I said, I think he’s an incredible talent.
“He’s a guy that I didn’t worry about him and his future, because I knew he was going to get picked up somewhere.”
Big E won the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match to become the new Mr. Money in the Bank. He earlier revealed that he would want to cash-in on WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Black had made his return to WWE on SmackDown in late May to feud with Big E. He was then released on June 2, due to budget cuts suffered by WWE owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Black made his debut on AEW Dynamite to attack Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes. Rhodes, then confronted Black the following week leading to a first feud for the former WWE star in AEW. Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes has been announced for AEW’s Homecoming edition of Dynamite on August 4th, announced during Fyter Fest.
The show is going to be hosted at Jacksonville, Florida. Black will begin his AEW career against one of the greats in pro wrestling. Rhodes, is also the executive-Vice President of the company and one of the top stars.
The feud seems perfect for the new AEW star, who will surely make a mark in the promotion’s future.
