Bobby Lashley recalls the moment Kofi Kingston regretted challenging him for the WWE championship
On the 17th May 2021 episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, Bobby Lashley had a surprise challenger for his WWE championship.
‘The Almighty’ put out an open challenge for his belt just a day after defending his title against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman at WrestleMania Backlash.
He said that the challenger must be someone other than McIntyre and Strowman, as he had already beaten them. And out came Kofi Kingston.
The former WWE champion took a beating but ended up winning against Lashley. What made it more impressive was the fact that he had beaten Randy Orton earlier that night.
But Lashley thinks that Kingston regretted that move when he was inside the ring, as he posted a photo of giving him a massive chokeslam.
Lashley’s caption on his Instagram post read, “At this moment Kofi realized accepting my open challenge wasn’t the best idea. He did win an ass whooping’. #TheHurtBusiness #TheAllMighty“
After this match, Kingston had the chance to beat Drew McIntyre on RAW to become the number one contender for the WWE title ahead of Hell in a Cell.
However, Lashley and MVP stormed to invade the match and render it a no-contest via disqualification.
A rematch was then announced by Adam Pearce between ‘The Chosen One’ and The New Day member on the 31st May episode of RAW.
That match, however, has certain conditions. Pearce confirmed if Lashley or MVP intervened in that fight, they would be banned for 90 days.
