Released WWE tag team Bollywood Boyz thank Randy Orton for bringing them into the picture
Bollywood Boyz’ duo of Samir & Sunil Singh thanked Randy Orton among other WWE figures to post a message of appreciation after their release.
WWE released the pair along with many other Cruiserweights due to budgets cuts in the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking on Pro Wrestling 4 Life, they spoke about how Orton tweeted back about their incredible bump: (h/t Fightful)
“We were very fortunate. Randy didn’t have to do that and put it out there on Twitter. Mick Foley put us over. Bret [Hart] sent us a very nice text. All of these legends, [Sean Waltman] included, you reached out within a day. It’s a badge of honor for us like we’re doing something right that these high profile Hall of Famers are looking out for us and know we’re going to be okay.”
Samil and Sunil Singh were most famously known for their time with former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. They witnessed history as Jinder Mahal shocked the world by beating Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship. Since leaving Mahal, they moved to WWE 205 Live, but could not do significant work to keep a spot in the company.
Bollywood Boyz’ impact on India
The duo belong to an Indian background and proudly displayed their culture during their time in WWE. This was evident when WWE hosted a Punjabi Prison match for Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton at Backlash.
The Singhs also dressed in traditional Indian outfits during their entrances into the ring with Mahal. They have assured to continue to represent the country when they decide on their next move.
WWE also hosted a live show in India during the time Jinder Mahal was champion. The event was successful and got the audiences raising their voices to the limit. The company has had a long association with India and continues to do so with more events planned in the future.
