Booker T has bad take about first AEW promo of CM Punk on Rampage
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T offered his opinion on CM Punk and his promo after AEW Rampage last Friday in Chicago.
On the latest episode of The Hall of Fame podcast, he shared what he thought about Punk’s return after 7 years away from the ring. He says: (h/t Cageside Seats)
“CM Punk came back and he had 10 full television minutes to go out there and make his point as far as CM Punk being back. He had the perfect crowd to be able to go out there and really, I’m talking about have a party up in that United Center. But CM Punk came back and took his moment and chose to talk about WWE. That right there was just a total miss as far as I’m concerned… [he] struck out.
“I can only imagine… if The Rock had that same 21,000 in Miami, Florida. The Rock would have talked about every landmark in Miami, that everybody in Miami frequented since they were little bitty kid.”
Punk’s return was the most trending update on social media in the wrestling world after his infamous spat with WWE. After he was fired from the company, he tried his hand in UFC losing both his fights in his MMA career.
After his long awaited return, Punk has a huge backyard of talent to choose from. In his opening promo, he quoted the experience with WWE. His main reason of joining AEW was for the people and to develop the young talent he once was.
With his absence from wrestling, it will take him a while after which we can see glimpses of the old Punk. Punk redefined the history books with his infamous pipe-bomb. The act was considered as one of the most monumental and controversial in WWE history.
This time around, Punk has a fresh start and he will start with a new approach in 2021 against Darby Allen.
