Wrestlemania Backlash features a tag team championship match for the WWE SmackDown tag team title
History awaits for Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik at the WrestleMania Backlash. The father-son duo are set to challenge for the WWE SmackDown title against The Dirty Dawgs – Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.
If they manage to beat Ziggler and Roode they can become the first father-son due in the history of SmackDown to become tag team champions. Plus, this will be Dominik’s second shot at a title, since joining the WWE, last year.
Rey Mysterio is no stranger to tag-team titles. He has already been a tag-team champion four times, during his stay at the WWE. But, this one would be the most special of them all.
Elsewhere, Booker T spoke about the greatness that awaits the Mysterios in the latest episode of the Hall of Fame podcast. He explained how amazing a feeling it would be for both son and dad, if they pull it off.
‘King Booker’ said:
“To be able to cap it off, can you imagine, being tag team champions with your son. That’s gotta be an amazing feeling for the son and the dad. That’s gotta be an overwhelming feeling, being able to do something like that, knowing that that’s gonna be written into history books.”
Rey Mysterio is 46-years old. The Mexican might be in the twilight phase of his career. At least that is what Booker T feels.
‘G.I Bro’ explained earlier in the podcast that the human body might even shut down overnight, as one grows old. Hence, he claimed that this is the best chance for Mysterio to create history.
Booker T was quoted as saying:
“If you’re gonna do it, you might as well do it now…Rey Mysterio is at that stage in his career, where we don’t know how many years left, he’s gonna be still doing this. You know, overnight you’re body can tell it is time to shut it down…He’s tread is like this right now [denoting tiny].”
