Randy Orton vs The Fiend at WrestleMania 37 had an odd ending that failed to please the majority
WWE are either building up to something big or have lost their bearings when it comes to The Fiend – Randy Orton – Alexa Bliss storyline.
It started well with The Fiend taking Bliss to the Dark Side and Orton entering into the fray later. The Firefly Funhouse match was another successful addition to the plotline.
But The Fiend’s defeat to Orton at WrestleMania after his much-awaited return to the big stage failed to conclude the storyline or give a deeper understanding of the complex storyline between the trio.
And the fans made their feelings known, with a majority of the 25,000 fans seated in the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida booed the match after the bell rang.
Orton had defeat The Fiend after he hit him with an RKO, with big help from Alexa Bliss, who proved to be a costly distraction for Wyatt.
And discussing this shock result, which came about in just 6 minutes, in detail was Booker T, who was on his Hall of Fame podcast earlier this week.
“The Fiend’s career is not about ‘wons’ and losses. The thing is, I don’t think it should be about ‘wons’ or losses. We saw what happened; The Fiend gets beat, the light goes out, everybody disappears. So did The Fiend really get beat? Could The Fiend have kicked out? Is The Fiend taking Randy Orton on a ride? what’s gonna happen next? to be continued…”
It is the last three words in that quote that is the reason why many fans seem to be disappointed with the match.
The fight did not really establish any ground-breaking turn in the story. All it did was probably make The Fiend’s character realize that Bliss might be a distraction for him.
But that is a small twist that could have taken place on any random RAW episode. The story still goes on and WWE fans are left more confused about the storyline than they were before WM 37.
