Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman fought in a brutal encounter back in 2019
Braun Strowman is all set to take on Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre for the WWE championship at WrestleMania Backlash later this month.
The match was actually supposed to be a singles match between Lashley and ‘The Chosen One’. But ‘The Monster Among Men’ was later added to it after beating the Scotsman on RAW.
McIntyre won the belt at WrestleMania 36 against Brock Lesnar after making his Royal Rumble 2020 win count. He later lost it to Miz, who then succumbed to Lashley.
But Strowman now has eyes for the belt that currently resides with ‘The Real Deal’. And he jogged Lashley’s memory back to a match they had a couple of years ago.
Strowman shared a video on his Instagram of putting Lashley through a box of some sort via a massive powerslam.
Braun Strowman wants to repeat Extreme Rules victory against Bobby Lashley
That snippet was from the duo’s Last Man Standing match at Extreme Rules in June 2019 in Philadelphia.
And it was one of the most physical, brutal encounters that year. Both men used the environment each other and put each other through all kinds of furniture.
The video of Strowman slamming Lashley is towards the closing stages of the match. The current champion did not recover from that and Strowman was the last man standing that day.
It was a shock to many when McIntyre didn’t break out of the Hurt Lock at WrestleMania 37 to win the title in front of the fans.
Many thought that this was WWE’s chance to make up for last year’s WrestleMania where McIntyre had to celebrate his title in an empty arena. But it remains to be seen what direction they take at Backlash.
All three have good enough reasons to win the title and this is what will make it a really good watch, with no one having a hint of what the final result will be.
