Bray Wyatt might also be ending up in the AEW soon
Just when it looked like Bray Wyatt might return after a brief hiatus, he was released by the WWE.
Wyatt, who had been juggling his Fiend and Firefly Fun House gimmicks, was absent from the promotion for several months sparking speculations about his future.
On the 31st of July, 2021, Wyatt was released from the promotion, ending an impressive 12-year long career.
Given the star he is, rumors of Wyatt joining the AEW were rife, right after his release.
However, he has got 90-day non-compete clause that will end only on the 31st of October.
Dave Meltzer told during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Wyatt joining the AEW would be confirmed only if his “non-compete clause is up.”
Here is what Meltzer had to say:
“He’s obviously not the only return. We’re gonna see a lot of different people coming up including Bray Wyatt…It’s not 100 percent, his non-compete is not up. It’s most likely happening. It’s at the same stage when I said Aleister Black, long before it happened. It’s the same stage. I don’t think there’s pen to paper or anything like that. It’s an expectation that’s pretty strong, put it that way.” [via Ring Side News]
AEW has been stacking the goods with more and more heavyweight signings. Just yesterday CM Punk arrived in the promotion in the midst of a massive crowd pop at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Daniel Bryan is expected to join AEW soon as well.
The Fiend was quite a big hit in the WWE. The nightmarish gimmick might never die after all. At least that is what Wyatt’s Tweet a couple of weeks ago seems to suggest.
“You can’t kill it,” he wrote on Twitter, posting an image of the Fiend.
More recently, Wyatt put out another Tweet that he is going nowhere (from the pro-wrestling scene).
“Rock Stars come and go. Musicians play until they die – -Eddie Van Halen.”
