‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt has been reportedly missing from WWE due to mental health problems
It’s been a while since we last saw Bray Wyatt. In fact, it was WrestleMania 37 where ‘The Fiend’ was last spotted.
Before that, he was also on a hiatus after Randy Orton ‘set him on fire’ inside the and ring and Orton continued his storyline with Alexa Bliss.
For a long time, people were confused if there was a reason behind Wyatt’s sporadic appearances or if it was intentional from WWE creative.
As it turns out, it was the former. Bill Bhatti and former WWE writer Vince Russo were talking on ‘The Nitty Gritty Dirt Sheet’ (h/t wrestling-edge.com) and Bill addressed why Wyatt was missing from action.
“He’s going through some mental health issues right now. He wanted the time off. When he agreed to return, he got heat instantly from Vince. So, he was like ‘Well, I don’t even want to be back in’.”
But Wyatt, apart from a few conspiracy theorists believing otherwise, did appear at WrestleMania 37 against Randy Orton with Alexa Bliss by his side.
So, what was that all about? According to Russo, it is still unclear if that was a favour he did for WWE or if it was Vince McMahon who banished him.
“What I don’t know is if he’s back and did them a favour for ‘Mania or if he came back and then Vince took him off TV again.”
Surely it cannot be the latter. Wyatt is a main roster staple. The former NXT star has risen through the ranks and through his immaculate wrestling, acting, and storytelling skills, reached where he is today.
There are not many, if any at all, WWE stars that can replicate his role as The Fiend. But mental health is itself a very serious and sensitive topic.
So, it’s fair that we wait for official news to come out regarding that or hear it from Wyatt himself before drawing serious conclusions.
We hope he can get the help and support that he needs during this time. As for Orton and Bliss, both seemed to have found their own storylines.
