Former WWE Superstar Brian Kendrick is expected to make his AEW Debut this week
Veteran pro wrestler Brian Kendrick will make his debut at AEW this week. It was reported earlier that in late January, Kendrick requested his release from WWE officials, and he has not been in any of the WWE TV tapings for his NXT/205 live producer/coach etc.
However, he was scheduled to face Harland on December 28 NXT episode, but that match never occurred and was erased due to COVID-19 measures. Kendrick was seen backstage with Harland a week before the planned game.
According to Fightful Select, Kendrick has received his WWE release this evening and is no longer under contract. In a short time, AEW then announced that Kendrick will make his debut against Jon Moxley tomorrow on Dynamite at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
“In his #AEW debut, @mrbriankendrick will face the toughest of tests tomorrow night on #AEWDynamite LIVE @ 8pm ET/7pm CT on @TBSNetwork when he goes one-on-one with former AEW World Champion @JonMoxley! Jon Moxley vs Brian Kendrick tomorrow night LIVE on Wednesday Night Dynamite!”
Brian Kendrick last wrestled in WWE on the October 30 episode of 205 Live, teaming with Mansoor to defeat Ever Rise. In mid-December, he was featured on NXT 2.0 in a segment with Harland, which saw that the monster threw Kendrick down.
Kendrick had two stints with WWE, one as a developmental wrestler and the second where he appeared as a part of the main roster. He returned to WWE in 2005, paired with Paul London.
During this time, he won the World Tag Team Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship, which also became the longest reign of the title until WrestleMania 20. After that, he again left WWE and went to TNA.
Kendrick again returned to the ring on the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic, after which he was assigned to 205 live, where he captured the Cruiserweight Championship once.
