AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker recently revealed which female superstars in the WWE got her into wrestling
Britt Baker is one of the key members of the AEW women’s roster. Having been a part of the promotion since its founding, Baker is now at the apex.
She is now the AEW Women’s World Champion – a title she won after beating Hikaru Shida at AEW Double or Nothing on the 30th of May, 2021.
Since then, Baker has put on four major title defenses. She started her title defense with a win over Rose at Fyter Fest. At Rampage, Baker beat Red Velvet to defend her title for the second time.
Since then she has beaten Statlander and newcomer Ruby Soho to keep hold of the belt.
Besides all this, Baker is a dentist as well.
In a recent appearance on the latest episode of the Throwing Down podcast with Renee Paquette and Miesha Tate, Baker revealed which WWE stars motivated her to take up a pro-wrestling career.
Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch and Charlotte were some of the names Bake cited as an inspiration:
“When I first started training, when I was like, ‘Hey, this is something I want to do while I’m in dental school,’ what really motivated me was when I saw the Sasha, Bayley, Becky, Charlotte matches that were happening on NXT at the time. Which is crazy because now we’re all like, quote-unquote competing against each other. But those are my idols, those are the girls that I enjoyed watching, and I think with women’s wrestling, the thing that I find is a trend that the most successful women are the ones that have the utmost confidence in themselves, and who they are, and that character.” [ewrestling News]
Britt Baker is one of the most wanted female superstars in the professional wrestling business right now.
With the promotion she is in right now, AEW, going great guns, WWE has been feeling the heat.
In the wake of this, Baker revealed that WWE were interested in signing her. Speaking about the same in an interview with Bleacher Report, Baker said:
“It’s no secret, [Adam] has already said it, that cat is out of the bag and I’m not going to get in trouble. WWE was definitely poking the bear a little bit through him recently, when I was still with AEW. ‘Hey, we’re interested in her,’ without teetering the line of contract tampering, they definitely let me know that they had interest in me, but it wasn’t a mutual thing. I’m very happy with AEW and thankful for the opportunities and this is where I want to stay.” [via Bleacher Report]
